John Davey-Hatcher holds a Masters Degree in Voice Performance and a Certificate in IB (International Baccalaureat) Education. He has dedicated his career to making high quality music and singing accessible to people of all ages. He has directed dozens of musicals, conducted youth choirs in competition with outstanding recognition, and has been featured conducting his school choir at Carnegie Hall in New York and at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.

 

John has performed as a soloist and chorist with many opera companies and symphonies throughout the US and Canada, including; San Francisco Opera, Mission City Opera, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Sanford Dole Ensemble, Bay Choral Guild, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Montreal Opera, San Francisco Sinfonietta, Tennessee Valley Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Phoenix Bach Choir and American Bach Soloists.

 

Major roles and solos include: Tenor soloist in Verdi Requiem Mass, Mozart Requiem Mass, Beethoven 9th Symphony, and in Handel Messiah; Tenor and Baritone soloist in Carmina Burana;  Shanty in Liverpool Oratorio, Don Jose in Carmen, Alfredo in La Traviatta, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in La Boheme, and Dick Johnson in La Fanciulla del West. He sang as a regular cast member and in the role of Piangi/Lionman in the Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera. He has performed in 38+ operas with the San Francisco Opera and sings regularly with the American Bach Soloists Choir.

Currently John is the High School Choir/Vocals teacher and IBDP Music teacher at Jakarta Intercultural School.
